The third season of the popular drama series Tell Me Lies has introduced viewers to a compelling new character, Alex, portrayed by the emerging Italian-Australian actor Costa D’Angelo.
D’Angelo, who hails from Melbourne, brings a fresh dynamic to the show’s ensemble. While details about his private life are kept under wraps, it is known that his family runs a gardening business in Australia. His formal training includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the Victorian College of the Arts, which he completed in 2022 after earlier studies at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. His theatrical background includes stage roles in productions such as First Love is the Revolution and 37.
The actor’s journey into the profession began unexpectedly. As he recounted in a past interview, his entry point was through childhood modeling, which eventually led to introductions within the acting world. This early start paved the way for roles in projects like Holding the Man, Wog Boys Forever, The Deb, and Crazy Fun Park.
His character, Alex, is described as someone who presents a reserved, even somewhat brusque exterior, but who possesses significant complexity beneath the surface. D’Angelo has indicated that Alex serves as a narrative device for another character, Bree, to re-examine her past and childhood experiences from a new vantage point.
Beyond Tell Me Lies, D’Angelo is set to appear in an upcoming Netflix series centered on hockey. He has also previously auditioned for a role in Angelina Jolie’s film Unbroken, advancing to the final stages of the selection process.
When discussing his career aspirations, D’Angelo expresses a strong interest in collaborating with acclaimed directors, citing figures like Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Christopher Nolan as dream collaborators. While open to the idea of a superhero role, he emphasizes that the vision of the director is his primary focus.
