Former President Donald Trump has issued a response following the release of a substantial cache of documents related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The newly public records, which reportedly comprise millions of pages, mention Trump’s name numerous times.
In a statement, Trump asserted that the contents of the files exonerate him from any wrongdoing, contrary to what he described as the hopes of political opponents. He characterized the document release as containing unfounded allegations.
Trump indicated he is considering legal action in connection with the matter, specifically naming author Michael Wolff and the estate of Jeffrey Epstein. He alleged a conspiracy between Wolff and Epstein aimed at causing him political harm, stating, “That’s not a friend.”
The relationship between Trump and Epstein, which spanned several years beginning in the late 1980s, has been documented in past media reports. The two were known to socialize in New York and Florida. However, that association reportedly ended in the mid-2000s following a disagreement over a property transaction.
Epstein died in 2019 while in federal custody awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The latest document release from court proceedings also names other high-profile individuals from political, business, and royal circles.
