Freshly disclosed correspondence from federal investigators reveals details of interactions between the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and several prominent figures in the technology sector. The emails, part of a broader document release, indicate Epstein characterized a 2015 gathering with multiple tech leaders as a “wild” event.
According to the records, the dinner took place in Palo Alto and was hosted by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman in honor of an MIT scientist. Attendees reportedly included Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk, and investor Peter Thiel. In a message to another billionaire following the event, Epstein used the single word “wild” to describe the evening.
The communications also show Epstein making personal remarks about Zuckerberg’s marriage and sarcastically suggesting the Facebook founder deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for the platform’s role in Middle Eastern political movements. In a separate email chain, Hoffman followed up with both Epstein and Zuckerberg days later, suggesting continued conversation under the subject line “intros.”
Further correspondence indicates a prior relationship between Epstein and Musk. Messages from late 2013 show Musk inquiring about visiting Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean during a holiday trip to the region, with Epstein offering to collect him by boat. A later schedule entry from Epstein’s files, dated years after, includes a note questioning whether a planned visit from Musk was still occurring.
A spokesperson for Zuckerberg has previously stated the executive met Epstein only once, “in passing,” at a dinner the financier did not organize, and had no further communication. Musk has publicly denied ever visiting the island, calling such reports false.
The documents contribute to the ongoing public examination of Epstein’s network, highlighting previously unreported points of contact with leaders of some of the world’s most influential technology companies.
